Masnavi (13th century) by Molona Jalal-e-Din Mohamad Molavi Rumi

Listen to the reed pipe, for it makes prophecies
It complains of all separations

Since they cut me down from the straw fields
Men and women have wept with my cries

I want the breath of each, one by one from loneliness
To be able to tell the story of pain and desire

If someone has remained far from their true self
They will search the day of finding themselves anew

I have cried out to every kind of population
I paired myself with the unhappy and the happy

Everyone became my companion out of their own intuition
No one sought my thoughts from inside of me
