t is not true that shadows
raise barricades
for us to stumble against.

Shadows welcome us
into their glorious bosom.

And they possess the rare gift
of granting a sun
to those who have been defeated.

Pay no heed if someone tells you
that night is suddenly falling.

Utterly false.

What they mean is that there begins
a halo of mystery
that touches all who dwell
on this side of the world.

Shadows spread
their dreadful mantle
only over those gazes
that live on anger
and fail to see the radiance
the spirit sheds
when it feels itself in flight.

No es cierto que las sombras
erijan parapetos
en los que tropezarnos.

Las sombras nos acogen
en sus senos gloriosos.

Y poseen la rara virtud de concederles
un sol a los vencidos.

No hagáis caso si os dicen
de pronto que anochece.

Rotundamente falso.

Querrán decir que empieza
un halo de misterio
que afecta a los que habitan
esta cara del mundo.

Las sombras sólo extienden
su manto horripilante
sobre aquellas miradas
que viven de la ira
e ignoran la fulgencia
que el espíritu irradia
cuando siente que vuela.
